Tank 1

After a few minutes snails had reached the top of the hydrophobic pot (left) and were eating lettuce, none were on the superhydrophobic one yet

After 30 minutes the difference disappeared.  As is so often the case the initial results might not have meant anything at all.

Tank 2

As with the other tank the coating was initially better, but I was not so excited this time having seen the results of tank 1.  As you can see I have put the hydrophobic pot on the right in this tank in case snails prefer one direction (light or heat can do this)

After a while the bias became greater, suggesting that the snails have difficulty climbing the coating.

The snails were then left overnight.  More in the next post...
